Pediatrician Dr. Danny Wood is blessed to have helped raise multiple generations of children. Being a parent and grandparent has helped him greatly over his more than three decades of his practice, in helping the children for whom he cares and to better help and understand their parents.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Wood came to Baton Rouge and performed his undergraduate studies at LSU, completing his degree in 1972. He then earned his M.D. from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1975 and performed his residency in Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center. He served as Chief Resident during his Pediatric residency Program, completing his program in 1978.
Dr. Wood was in private practice in the Baton Rouge community prior to joining The Baton Rouge Clinic in 1997. He is certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, is a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics, and holds memberships in the Louisiana State Medical Society, the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society and the Pediatric Society of Baton Rouge. He holds a license to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana.
Over his decades-long medical career, Dr. Wood has served in numerous professional organizations and capacities. He is the past Chief of Pediatrics at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and at Woman’s Hospital, is the past Vice-Chief of Staff at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, and is past Chairman of the Credentials Committee at Baton Rouge General. He has also served as Medical Director for the Louisiana State Health Department.
Dr. Wood and his wife have two children and three grandchildren and have made Baton Rouge their home for over 35 years. He enjoys spending time with family and his grandchildren as well as enjoying traveling, cooking and gardening around his home. Dr. Wood is a member of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
