Dr. Gary Hirsch is a board certified Gastroenterologist, certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. A native of New York City, Dr. Hirsch joined The Baton Rouge Clinic following a long career in a private practice in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Hirsch earned his M.D. in 1978 from Tulane University in New Orleans and performed an internship, a residency, and a fellowship in Gastroenterology through Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, completing all three programs by 1983. While practicing in Houston, Dr. Hirsch was a Clinical Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Texas and was involved with teaching in the fellowship program in Gastroenterology at UT. He also worked at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He holds medical licenses in both Louisiana and Texas and has been a member of the Baton Rouge Clinic family of physicians for almost two decades.
Among his professional affiliations are memberships in the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Hirsch resides in Baton Rouge.
