With nearly three decades of experience in the practice of General and Vascular Surgery, Dr. Glen Schwartzberg has been witness to the rapidly advancing field of general medicine, specifically the surgical aspect. In his twin specialties of Vascular Surgery and Endocrine Surgery, Dr. Schwartzberg has kept abreast of the latest technologies and practices in use in the treatment of patients and has been chosen as a consultant for Avinger Technologies and Covidien Vascular, two companies leading the way in advanced medical technologies in their fields.
A native of New Orleans, Dr. Schwartzberg earned a BS in Zoology in 1976 and his MD from Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1980. He completed his residency in General Surgery in 1985 through Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts and performed a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Harvard University in Boston.
Licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana, he is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General and Vascular Surgery. He holds memberships in the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Southern Vascular Society, and the Gulf Coast Vascular Society. Dr. Schwartzberg continues to enjoy the instructional aspects of graduate medical education and medical student education by also working as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at Tulane Medical School.
Dr. Schwartzberg is married and has two children and resides in Baton Rouge. Among his hobbies, he enjoys the outdoors, including fishing and hunting.
